Zodiac Sign: Taurus
Hobbies: Singing, Watching live shows and performances, Boxing, Exploring different places
Favorite Singer: : Mayday, Eason Chan, Jacky Cheung
Favorite Songs: Mayday's “Cheers” (乾杯). I really like Mayday's songs, mainly because of the lyrics. Ashin's lyrics are full of life and dreams, balancing realism and romance. For me, “Cheers” is very meaningful. It tells a story of an ordinary life, moving through the past, present, and future from an observer’s view. I once said that if I leave this world one day, I hope this song will be played at my farewell. The melody is light, and the meaning is peaceful. Goodbye should not be scary. Time moves forward, and life always changes. I hope we can accept that change.
1. What was the first physical album you ever bought?▼ ▲
“Magical Journey” (奇幻旅程) by S.H.E.
2. Which singer has had the biggest influence throughout your entire youth?▼ ▲
It's hard to name just one singer. Different singers have influenced my youth at different stages.
3. What is your most memorable singing experience? What happened at the time?▼ ▲
In 2018, I performed on stage for the last time during my university years. It was a charity event at school. The first half was a run around campus, and the second half was an outdoor mini concert.
After that, I didn’t perform on stage for eight years. Looking back, that was truly the last period when I could perform freely and fully focus on the moment.
4. Do you have any warm-up routines or little rituals before singing/performing?▼ ▲
Lip Trills. It’s a vocal warm-up my teacher taught me. It became a habit, and it helps me feel more at ease.
5. Which song have you played on repeat the most in your headphones?▼ ▲
“Cheers” (乾杯) by Mayday.
6. What is your favourite lyric? Why?▼ ▲
“‘My only wish in this life is to be ordinary and happy, who says that isn’t great?’ from Mayday, “The Song of Laughter and Forgetting” (笑忘歌).
I really like Ashin's lyrics. This line makes me feel that the most important thing in life is simply to be happy and ordinary. If I can live a simple and happy life, that is already very complete.
7. If you had to use one song to sum up your past year, which would you choose?▼ ▲
“Stubborn” (頑固) by Mayday. The past year felt like a “near survival” experience for me. My emotions once dropped to a very low point in life. Luckily, my mindset wasn't worn down. That bit of stubbornness was still in me. So I kept trying things that made me happy. I made many changes and tried many new things. This song accompanied me through a very dark period and helped me get through it.
8. What do you think is your most memorable trait? ▼ ▲
A sunny personality. I don't always feel that way myself, but many people have described me as such. I’m not sure if I am truly a “sunny” person, but I do choose to show my brighter side to others. I don't want to pass on negative energy, and I think I really value peace. Sunny days make me very happy. I feel full of energy and courage again.
9. If you could perform with any singer, who would it be and why?▼ ▲
Mayday. On one hand, I really like Mayday. On the other hand, I think performing in a band is a very joyful thing.
10. Use three adjectives to describe your voice.▼ ▲
Stories, emotions, thoughts.
11. What does music mean to you?▼ ▲
It is faith, it is comfort, and it is an important support in my heart. Every time I sing, the happiness I feel from the inside is real and cannot be faked.
I am very grateful to be one of the finalists in this contest and to have the chance to perform on stage and share my voice with people. I believe that many inner emotions and thoughts that cannot be expressed in words can be conveyed through music. So every time I sing, it is a release and a way to share emotions. Music helps me relieve stress and strengthen my beliefs. It is an important companion in my life.
