Favorite Songs: “Love Love Love” by Khalil Fong, “Malibu Nights” by LANY, “Slow Dancing in a Burning Room” by John Mayer. These songs stayed with me through different stages of life, showing me that music is more than melody by a way to capture emotions and time.
1. What was the first physical album you ever bought?▼ ▲
John Mayer “Where the Light Is (Live in LA)”. This live album has had a big impact on me. The playing, emotional depth, and live performance all helped me truly understand the depth of music.
2. Which singer has had the biggest influence throughout your entire youth?▼ ▲
Khalil Fong. I once listened to the same song every day for weeks. His music taught me that groove, soul, and honesty can coexist in a very natural way.
3. What is your most memorable singing experience? What happened at the time?▼ ▲
Every moment of connecting with the audience feels deeply meaningful. When I feel that they are breathing with me and entering the same song, that feeling of “sharing the same story” is the most precious.
4. Do you have any warm-up routines or little rituals before singing/performing?▼ ▲
I stretch, especially my arms and shoulders, to relax my body. Then I put on headphones with noise cancellation to create a quiet space, close my eyes, and get into the right mindset.
5. Which song have you played on repeat the most in your headphones?▼ ▲
Recently, it's SAULT's “Why Why Why Why Why”. I really like their groove. It feels raw but layered, with a natural flow in rhythm and space. The emotions seeping through without being too loud or obvious.
6. What is your favorite lyric? Why?▼ ▲
“Still singing old songs like first love; without new love, old feelings are cut off, so we can stay calm forever.” (仍舊曲新唱如初戀,無新愛舊情早斬斷,才能永遠平平淡淡永遠) from “Garden of Gordon” (歌頓花園) by Gordon Flanders. It poetically describes long-lasting love. It helps me understand that a simple, calm life doesn't mean no feelings, it is actually a deeper choice.
7. If you had to use one song to sum up your past year, which would you choose?▼ ▲
I would choose my own song “Halfway”. It is about transition and growth, and it reflects my life over the past year.
8. What do you think is your most memorable trait?▼ ▲
I'm not good at expressing myself in words, but I believe my voice comes from deep inside. I hope to use my voice to have a direct “soul conversation” with people.
9. If you could perform with any singer, who would it be and why?▼ ▲
Khalil Fong. He has had a deep influence on me. His passing is a regret for me, but if I could perform with him through music, it would be an important connection and a tribute.
10. Use three adjectives to describe your voice.▼ ▲
Warm, delicate, soulful.
11. What does music mean to you?▼ ▲
Music is a more direct way for me to express myself than words. When I can't speak, I can sing. When I feel lost, music helps me find myself again.
